Sep 18, 2017 So it's a pretty commonly known issue that the function keys on the Apple Wireless keyboard don't do a thing in Windows. Is there some way. I'm using Windows 8.1 on an Windows PC, not a Mac, so I don't have access to the Boot Camp drivers.
After 3 frustrating hours of trying every tip on the net, I found: Try this: This finally fixed it for me: Device Manager - Open System Devices, you will find a Bluetooth HID Device. Double Click it, open Driver tab and click 'Update Driver' Select Browse my Computer, then 'Let me Pick'. It should now show TWO compatible drivers with exactly the same name. One of them is the Microsoft one, one is the non-working Chinese. Install one of them and see if the driver properties changed to the right (Microsoft) driver. If not, try again with the other one. For me, the Microsoft driver was the first one in the list, but this may be different for you.
Wow, an annoying and intense hour of trouble shooting finally over. The issue is related to the Chinese version of the driver that the latest Windows Update applies, and stops the keyboard from working. I'm finally able to type this using an Apple Wireless Keyboard on my Windows 7 64-bit PC!
Hello everybody, So I recently bought a new keyboard however, when I plug it in i receive 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. I have tried every USB port, including a powered USB hub and other devices work in the USB ports, so it can't be a problem with my ports. I have tried to uninstall my drivers, reboot and reinstall them but it doesn't do anything. My other keyboard and USB devices all work fine, its just this keyboard. The keyboard does not have any drivers online, so I cannot manually install it. The keyboard isn't broken, because it works fine in the BIOS menu, but stops as soon as Windows loads.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit Does anyone know how I can fix this? Well I guess that rules that out. Thought it was worth a shot.
Maybe try both of these solutions. First, download and reinstall the USB drivers for you motherboard located here: And the Intel chipset and.inf files located here: Intel management engine: Inf files: Reboot after installation of all three executables and then reconnect the keyboard.
If that doesn't work, this was taken from the Das Keyboard help forum: This happened to me on Win7 x64. After hours of searching here is a solution what worked for me.
Seems i was missing usb.inf and usb.pnf files in C: Windows INF Browse to 'C: Windows System32 DriverStore FileRepository usb.infamd64neutrale2b28ecac19a29af' Copy usb.inf and usb.PNF to 'C: Windows INF ' This step will require admin privileges Unplug then plug the keyboard back in and it was recognized right away. You can also try updating the drive manually like so. Update driver on unknown devices - In Device Manager, right-click on the unkown device and select Properties - Select Driver tab - Click 'Update Driver' button - Select 'Browse my computer for driver software' - Enter 'C: Windows INF ' in the Search for driver software in this location field and click Next. The three executables seemed to do the trick. You really helped me out!
